Need More Self Confidence When Acting?
Acting can make any doubt their self confidence. To get up on stage and make yourself vulnerable is not easy. Not to mention all the people judging your performance. From your coach, producers, other actors, critics, and family, it can make anyone seriously doubt if they really want to go up on stage.
Many famous actors have admitted they have doubts about their acting ability at times. People like Meryl Streep, Kate Winselt, and Will Smith all have stated that sometimes they do not trust themselves or do not want to watch their own movies.
One mark of a great actor is that they can turn negative or stressful situations into positive ones. Learn to channel the stress you feel into motivating you to do better in your next performance.
Stress or feeling nervous usually means you should do more preparing for the role. Practice your lines more or tape your performance and critique it yourself to see if you can see areas that need improvement.
Everyone gets nervous before they get up on stage, it is normal. But great actors do not let that fear and stress get in the way of delivering a great performance.
Another technique you can use is called visualization. Visualizing a perfect performance several times a day can help you increase your level of performance. Athletes have been using this technique for years.
