3 Steps For How To Get Self Confidence

Many people wonder they can become more self confident.  Too many people focus on the “how to” part and not enough time is spent on the “why” part.  If you spend some time on figuring out why you feel you lack self confidence, often the answer to “how to get it” becomes clear.

There are three steps for how to get self confidence.  I emphasize that you should spend more time on step one.

The first step to getting more is to find out exactly why you feel you lack self confidence.  Many of us often over generalize and feel that we completely lack self confidence, when in fact, we may only lack it in a specific situation.

For example some people have trouble standing up to their boss at work, but then have no trouble standing up to relatives.  Does this person have a generalized lack of self confidence? No!

Take time and write out some specific examples as to why you feel you lack self confidence.  Often times you will see a pattern emerge, which can often lead to your answer.

The second part to getting more confidence is to come up with a plan to solve it.  There are numerous tools you can use:

  • Visualization
  • Affirmations
  • Reading inspiring stories
  • Mentoring
  • Reading books
  • Talking to a friend

These are just some of the cheap and free options available to you without the need to spend hundreds at the therapist office.

The third part is to put your plan into action.  This is another weak spot for most people.  They know what they should do and how they should do it, but they don’t take those next steps.

Make a resolution to yourself today that you will take charge of your life and start to live a life you can be proud of!

Gaining self confidence in this area will leading to greater self confidence in other areas, and it will all snowball.
